Crème Academy’s Learning Incubator is an innovative program merging educational pedagogy with the development of practical, professional media industry skills. This is a student-centric developmental approach where we establish each student’s goals at the start of the program in order to formulate the learning outcome at each specific stage. This enables us to meet the student’s learning objectives in an individually tailored way. It creates a process that allows students in the Learning Incubator program to acquire the specific skills and knowledge needed to launch their individual careers of choice.
Academically, Mastery Learning, or the sequential mastery of a specified topics before tackling the next in the series, seems to be an effective pedagogy. But when applied to real world industry or career based skill sets, another method should accompany academic or theoretical learning. “Step Spiral Learning” applies to the acquisition of knowledge through repeated interaction with a specific topic. Employed through different levels of Mastery topics, Step Spiral Learning allows for the practical application and refinement of skill sets throughout the learning process. Students are exposed to a wider spectrum of knowledge and progressively develop skills that advance in a step by step progression. Paired with Mastery Learning, Step Spiral Learning yields an effective combination of theoretical and practical knowledge.
Especially for students interested in entering the media industry with career based learning, Step Spiral Learning allows the attainment of a wider spectrum of foundational knowledge and skill sets that are required for each selected career path. We also incorporate training in Transversal Skills, or skill sets such as critical thinking that can be applied across all disciplines and subjects, which are put in practice and assessed through various means along the study path. This approach allows students to form a firm foundation before branching out to the various areas of specialization that are based on Progressive Modular Learning.
