Certificate in Introduction to Acting

A series of classes introducing basic techniques of acting that can be used for film, tv and stage. The course is suitable for beginners with passion in acting (no prior knowledge required) or those who haven had previous trainings. This course is an discussion/activity based classes and a safe space for students to explore their creativity and master their craft with fellow classmates. So be ready to get up and move!

Prerequisite
  •  No prior knowledge required (and referred, actually)
  • Strict attendance. This class required a group activity so the students must be considerate to their fellow scene partners (without you, your friends can’t work)
  • Ware comfortable clothes to class because there will be a lot of movements.
  • Students might require to bring some costumes and/or props to class (nothing major)
Course Objective
  • Introducing basic method acting techniques
  • Character work and scene analysis for actors
  • How to approach scene work and monologues
  • Applying techniques/ character work/scene analysis to scene work (with partner) or monologues

Course Content

3 months, 24 classes (3 hours/class)
  • Period: 1st month // 8 classes
    Contents:
    • Introduce students to the core principles of method acting technique
    • Practical workshop
    – all basic sensory work
    – introduction to character work and how to apply it to scene work
    – introduction to scene analysis for actors and class discussions
    – student starts bringing scenes that they want to work on for this course (can be from film, TV or play)
    – Rehearsal process and how to approach scene work

 

  • Period: 2nd month // 8 classes
    Contents:
    • Introduction to audition and acting for camera
    • Introduction to working on monologue
    • Students starts bringing their scene work to class for comments and peer review

 

  • Period: 3rd month // 8 classes
    Contents:
    • Scene work// monologue reviews
    • Final presentation
